Jeff Daniels gave Jimmy Fallon a thumbs-up and a smile when the Late Night host asked him if the long-rumored Dumb and Dumber sequel is on the way. Well, Ill believe its happening when Im actually there staring at Jim Carrey, but it looks like were starting in September, the actor said on Monday.
Excellently titled Dumb and Dumber To,the films future went into limbo recently when original studio Warner Bros. decided not to back the project, but Universal reportedly stepped in to produce it. Daniels (who currently stars in HBOs The Newsroom) went on to confirm that original directors/writers the Farrelly brothers are involved and that the film should see release sometime next year to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the original.
Ive seen the script; its hysterical, Daniels added. Were middle-aged; were not pretending we arent. Were middle-aged and were still that stupid.
