Will Ferrell Anchors a North Dakota News Broadcast as Ron Burgundy

Ron Burgundy hit the small screen in Bismarck, North Dakota this weekend as Will Ferrell joined the local KVMB team for their Saturday night news broadcast. Appearing in character as his Anchorman alter ego, Ferrell helped deliver the news in Burgundys trademark oblivious style.

Ive never seen fighting in a hockey match before, he declared after a sports segment. That was fascinating.

Will Ferrell and 49 More of the Funniest People Now

KXMBs weekend anchor Amber Schatz told the Associated Press that she only learned that Ferrell would be co-anchoring with her on Wednesday, and that keeping a straight face during the 30-minute broadcast was a challenge. The second he said, Good evening, Im Ron Burgundy, I lost it, Schatz said. It was really hard not to laugh.

Ferrells guest anchoring gig comes as part of an immersive promotional tour for Anchorman 2, which hits theaters on December 20th. Other recent stunts include an exhibit at the Newseum in Washington, C.D. and a (temporary) honorary renaming of Emerson Colleges School of Communication after Ron Burgundy. The fun moves on to Winnipeg tonight, where Ron Burgundy will be covering Canadas Olympic curling trials for the broadcaster TSN.
