One Direction's appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman on Friday got off to an awkward start when fellow guest Dustin Hoffman planted a big surprise smooch on Niall Horan's mouth (protected, it appears, with his hands). After regaining their composure, the band went on to deliver some One Direction 101 to Letterman (who asked if Simon Cowell, orchestrator of the boyband and owner of their record label, gets a cut of their profits) and returned to the stage after the interview to play "Little Things."
