Ghostbusters Fend Off Looming Apocalypse in New Trailer


The new Ghostbusters trailer finds the female paranormal-hunters working to avoid mass hysteria and possibly the apocalypse after someone creates a device that amplifies paranormal activity. No one should have to encounter that kind of evil, an unnamed big-wig (Michael McDonald) tells the crew. Except you girls I think you can handle it.

The latest clip features receptionist Kevin (Chris Hemsworth), up-close looks at several ghosts (including Slimer) and a handful of solid punchlines from the Ghostbusters, played by Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon. Something big is going to happen, Wiigs charactersays.

The first trailerearned a hostile Internet reception, and even McCarthy admitted during an interview that the opening 30 Years Ago title cards werevery confusing.

Its a reboot, not a remake, the actress told The Johnjay and Rich Show last month. I know its weird that they say 30 years ago, but in this movie its like the first one didnt happen. Its that great story but told totally differently. But its the same thing of four unlikely heroes: its in New York City [and] ghosts are taking over.

Since debuting in early March, the first Ghostbusters trailer has racked up roughly YouTube 782,000 thumbs down ratings (as of this publication), making it the 12th-most disliked clip in the sites history, trailing behind two Justin Bieber videos, Psys Gangman Style and Miley Cyrus Wrecking Ball, among others.

Some of it is that people dont want an old property touched Im sympathetic to that, director Paul Feig told The Guardian, claiming some of the negativity is stems from misogyny. But the ones who are hating it because its about women? Thats just a non-starter.

The new Ghostbusters hits theaters July 15th.
