Twilight Star Nikki Reed Discusses Animal-Friendly Handbag Line

At 15-years-old, Nikki Reed wrote and starred in Thirteen, the controversial film about the debauched lives of young teenagers surrounded by drugs, alcohol and sex. Now 13 years after breaking through, Reed has explored music, starred in the blockbuster Twilightseries, become a series regular on the TV show Sleepy Hollow and has now entered the world of fashion with her handbag company, launched in conjunction with Freedom of Animals. Take a look at Reed discussing her new line in the first installment of Momentum: A Day in the Life, our new video series that gives viewers a peek into the busy lives of influential young celebrities as they multi-task their various high-level endeavors.

For Reed and Morgan Bogle, the CEO of Freedom of Animals, the line of sustainable handbags is about creating choices for people, offering fashionable accessories that do not come at the price of animal rights. Everything we make leaves some sort of footprint and is destructive in some way, so its about lessening that, the actress explains. Why not give people options to at least decrease the amount of destruction?

Reed has approached her fashion endeavor as she has all her other artistic pursuits. I am where I am right now because I am an extremely hard worker, but I also think circumstance helps that, she says. I wonder if theres a certain level of simplicity that maybe encourages happiness or the sense of being content.
