Bill Murray appeared in two 1984 films: one,Ghostbusters, became an all-time classic; the other, Nothing Lasts Forever, was never released commercially (after being scrapped by MGM) and faded into cinematic obscurity. But as theA.V. Clubnotes (viaTelegraph), the latter project has resurfaced on YouTube in its full 80-minute form.
A Short History of Bill Murrays Offscreen Antics
Written and directed by Saturday Night Liveveteran Tom Schiller,Nothing Lasts Foreveris a sci-fi comedy starring Zach Galligan (Gremlins) as an artist struggling to realize his dreams in a surrealist Manhattan controlled by the Port Authority. Dan Aykroyd co-stars as Galligans wise-ass, gun-sporting day-job boss, while Murray appears in a small role as a bus conductor who leads Galligan on a peace-seeking mission to the moon. The film, which was actually posted online three years ago (but brought into the public spotlight this week), veers in a number of strange directions including musical numbers, dream sequences and transitions from black-and-white into color.
