Despite rumors to the contrary, Jessica Chastain is not joining the Season Two cast of True Detective. One day afterNerdistreported that shed been offered a lead part on the show,reps for the Oscar-nominated actress confirmed toE!that Chastain wont be featured on the acclaimed HBO series.HBO has also denied the reports.

Chastain has received wide critical acclaim for several recent film roles. She earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in 2011s The Help, along with a Best Actress Oscar nod for her lead part in the 2012 military thriller Zero Dark Thirty. The actress is set to appear in several films this year, including Christopher Nolans upcoming sci-fi epicInterstellar(opposite Matthew McConaughey, star of True DetectiveSeason One).
Even if Chastain isnt headed to HBO, TrueDetective creator Nic Pizzolatto has hinted at a larger female presence in the shows second season, which will feature an entirely new story and cast. This is really early, but Ill tell you [its about] hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system, he toldHitFixin a March interview, noting that he also wanted to keep being strange with the series.
Elsewhere, Pizzolatto also reflected on the first season as a whole, saying he was satisfied with how things ended up.It couldnt have been better, he said. Im just surprised by it. . . . I think this show answers everything it told you to ask. The questions it didnt tell you to ask are questions best left to ones self.
