Its been four years since Tom Cruise first suited up as Lee Childs elite Military Police Corps Officer Jack Reacher, but in the new trailer for the second in the spy-vs-spy franchise titled Jack Reacher: Never Go Back hes re-started his revenge rampage without skipping a beat.
Two things are going to happen in the next 90 seconds, Cruise informs two sheriffs at the beginning of the clip, as he sits bloodied and bruised in a diner. First, that phone over there is going to ring. Second youre going to be wearing those cuffs on your way to prison. (Guess what happens?) Reacher then finds himself in the middle of a vast government conspiracy involving a fellow officer (The Avengers Cobie Smulders) brought up on espionage charges and a rogue soldier whos taking out other American troops. After busting his new ally out of the hoosegow, the two must track down the killer amid exploding cars, hectic firefights, close-quarter hand-to-hand combat on a plane and terse, threat-filled phone conversations in New Orleans. And should you have forgotten that Reacher is indeed a badass, the trailer also features Cruise punching a guy through a car window and jumping off a building to tackle a thug.
The film is directed by Edward Zwick (Glory) and costars Robert Knepper (iZombie), Aldis Hodge (Underground, Straight Outta Compton) and Holt McCallany (Blue Bloods). It opens wide on October 21st.
