Dan Aykroyd remembered Carrie Fisheras one of the most brilliant and hilarious minds of our eon in a tribute that appeared in the March issue ofEmpire. I grew up as a simple Catholic kid so you can imagine how much of a privilege and honor it was for me to have known this one-off, broke-the-mold woman as a great friend, he wrote.
Much of his eulogy focused on amusing memories from the period when he and Fisher were romantically involved. On another particularly memorable occasion, Aykroyd and Fisher decided to celebrate Christmas by watching movies and taking acid. Having obtained some original Owsley from our friend Tom Davis, we flew up to Reno, rented a wagon and checked in for three days of full-on weeping to Christmas classics, Aykroyd recalled. He described the trip as one of the planets greatest occasions where LSD was a factor.

Fisher died December 27th, not long after experiencing a cardiac episode. Her ashes were recently laid to rest next to the body of her mother, the actressDebbie Reynolds, who died December 28th.
