See Chris Rock, Adam Sandler Bicker in New Wedding Comedy The Week Of

Chris Rock andAdam Sandlerplay hilariously passive aggressive fathers of a soon-to-be-married couple in the new trailer forNetflix original movie,The Week Of.

The Robert Smigel-directed comedy chronicles the chaos of two families coming together the week before a wedding. The new trailer highlights plenty of that madness from magic tricks gone awry to Steve Buscemi inexplicably smoking a cigarette while lying on a chimney. The action is centered around Sandler and Rock having a very fatherly fight over whether to turn on the car air conditioner.

Im just saying, A/C would be great, says Rock. You say it, well turn it on, Sandler replies, prompting Rock to deadpan, I said it. When Sandler acquiesces, he cracks, Hows this, let me turn it on for you better? Ok, lets turn it off.

The Week Of premieres April 27th on Netflix. The film marks Sandlers fourth movie for the streaming service, following The Ridiculous 6, The Do-Over and Sandy Wexler. Last year, Sandler and Netflix inked another deal for four more movies.

The Only Living Boy in New York Review: Weak Riff on The Graduate Is a Waste

Marc Webb, who directed one of my all-time favorite rom-coms, (500) Days of Summer, gets it all wrong this time with The Only Living Boy in New York. How do major misfires like this happen? Blame the screenwriter. Summer showed the light touch of Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber; Boy is credited to writer Allan Loeb, whose growing rap sheet includes the excruciating Collateral Beauty and The Space Between Us. Even the best actors and this coming-of-age movie boasts a handful of them cant fight this much tin-eared dialogue.

The set-up: Thomas, played by rising Brit star Callum Turner, is a petulant young novelist who despises the good life hes living in Manhattan. So, naturally, he moves to a dump on the Lower East Side. Take that, privilege! Mimi (Kiersey Clemons), the age-appropriate object of Thomass lust, wont let the kid near her bed. Smart girl. His moneybags dad, Ethan (Pierce Brosnan), is a successful publisher who is making life miserable for his depressed wife, Judith (Cynthia Nixon) mostly by having an affair with gorgeous Johanna (Kate Beckinsale). How to stick it to daddy for cheating on mom? By having an affair with Johanna himself. Why the older woman, as embodied with intelligence and finely-burnished glam by the British actress, is willing to play Mrs. Robinson to Turners Benjamin is purely the risible result of Loebs total misreading of The Graduate.

Did I mention that the great Jeff Bridges shows up as Thomass mystery mentor, referred to as WF? Put a capital T between those initials and you get my reaction to what transpires on screen. As far as I know, Simon & Garfunkel havent protested the appropriation of their song for a film that misses every note of sorrowful beauty in their music. Just give it time.

Zombieland Sequel in the Works, Sets October 2019 Release

The long-awaited sequel to 2009s Zombieland is finally in the works, with the film expected to arrive around the 10th anniversary of the cult classic horror comedy.

All of the principal talent involved in the original will return for the sequel: Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson and Abigail Breslin each an Oscar nominee, with Eisenberg, Stone and Harrelson earning nods post-Zombieland will reprise their roles, with director Ruben Fleischer also back to helm Zombieland 2.

Zombieland screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, who went on to pen the Deadpool film series, have already written the sequels screenplay, setting up a January 2019 production start and an October 2019 release. (However, Bill Murray who had a jaw-dropping surprise cameo in the original likely wont be back, but the actor is starring in a Jim Jarmusch-directed zombie film.)

The original Zombieland, one of Rolling Stones picks for the Best Zombie Movie, made over $100 million at the box office on a $24 million budget and gained a cult following on home media. However, despite a desire by all parties to revive the film, plans for the sequel have repeatedly stalled. In 2013, a Amazon-produced TV series based on Zombieland didnt make it past the pilot stage.

This is one of those projects that fans have wanted to see happen for a long time and no one wanted to see it happen more than Emma, Woody, Jesse and Abigail, Columbia Pictures president Sanford Panitch said in a statement (via The Hollywood Reporter). These are some of the most in-demand actors, and I think they are making this movie because they love these characters. We are thrilled Ruben was willing to come back to direct the sequel, as his work onVenomhas been truly amazing.

Nobody enjoys accosting people on the streets of New York City more than Billy on the Street host Billy Eichner except, of course, for the costumed characters in Times Square who hit up tourists for money in exchange for a quick photo op. Sick of watching Elmo, Spider-Man, et al. trawl around the Manhattan landmark, Eichner decided to see how many tips he might be able to earn by trotting out one his favorite characters: Academy Award-winning actress Julianne Moore.

Vividly recreating some of her most famous movie moments for the befuddled strangers, Moore performs a devastating monologue from The Kids Are All Right, her immortal breakdown from Magnolia, and even straight up cries on cue for a tourist who doesnt speak enough English to understand whats happening. (Comfort her!, Eichner yells.) Hey Elmo, the host barks at a dejected Sesame Street cos-player as they walk in the other direction, Take a hard look at a natural redhead!

Zero Dark Thirty, Les Miserables and Django Unchained Are Must-See Holiday Movies

Its the most wonderful time of the year, and Peter Travers has no coal just three holiday season must-sees on this weeks At The Movies. First up is Kathryn Bigelows spectacular Zero Dark Thirty, which stars Jessica Chastain as a CIA desk warrior leading the manhunt for Osama Bin Laden. Next is Tom Hoppers film adaptation of the musical Les Miserables starring Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway and Russel Crowe which nixes clunky vocal overdubbing for live singing. Travers promises, even if you hate musicals, this is the musical for you (and also predicts Oscar glory for Hathaway). And last, but certainly not least, is the most insane good movie of the holiday season: Quentin Tarantinos Civil War-era western, Django Unchained, which finds a freed slave seeking vengeance on every slave holder in the South. In Lincoln, [President] Lincoln pushes the thirteenth amendment through congress in order to abolish slavery, Travers explains. Quentin does it by turning Jamie Foxx into John Shaft and taking everybody down! This is Tarantino history.
