Frill-necked bears, gryphons, an extremely covetous mole and dozens of other critters are causing havoc in Manhattan in the latest trailer for Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Luckily for the residents of 1926 New York, a mussy-haired wizard named Newt Scamander is there to corral them.Played by recent Oscar-winner (and just about the last British thespian who hasnt already been roped into a role in the Harry Potter universe) Eddie Redmayne, Newts mission is to get the beasties back in order.
His journey acquaints him with new friends Jacob Kowalski (Hey, mister English guy, I think your egg is hatching! shouts the American No-Maj, a stateside term for those incapable of practicing magic) and Tina Goldstein, an employee of the Magical Congress of the United States of America who joins Newts quest. In addition to Dan Fogler and Katherine Waterston, respectively, Colin Farrell also joins Redmayne in the ensemble as Percival Graves, a ruthless wizard dead-set on tracking down Newt.
The new trailer shows off more of the productions flashy CGI creations than any previous spot, with wide-scale destruction leveling entire sections of old-timey New York. Something is stalking our city, wreaking destruction and then disappearing without a trace, Tina warns. It cant remain a secret much longer.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them comes to theaters November 18th.
