Boy Meets Worldand its story of adolescent self-discovery resonated with an entire generation of tweens. In the same way audiences fell in love with Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence, we look forward to introducing our viewers to their daughter, Riley Matthews . . . and building a memorable connection with a whole new generation of fans, Adam Bonnett, Disney Channels Worldwide executive vice president, said in a statement.

WhileBoy was set in the suburbs, Girl is set in New York, where Riley, Cory and Topangas daughter, and her friend Maya are in middle school. Cory follows in the footsteps of his mentor and long-time neighbor, Mr. Feeny, and serves as the girls history teacher while Topanga oversees an after-school hangout for the tweens.

Girl Meets Worldis a new show for a new generation that will be rooted in the same kind of honest, comedic storytelling about coming of age and the importance of family and friendship that madeBoy Meets Worldso popular, Michael Jacobs, creator and executive producer of both shows, said in a statement.
