Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg played a pair of mismatched cops in the 2010 action-comedy The Other Guys. This December, the actors will once again join forces in the upcoming film Daddys Home. Arriving just in time for Fathers Day, the first trailer for the Christmas Day-bound comedy has been unveiled, and in the first look, a super cool father (played by Wahlberg) and a nerdy, neurotic stepdad (Ferrell) battle over the affection of their children.
Ferrell bears the brunt of the pain in the Daddys Home trailer, getting thrown off a motorcycle, smashing through a bathroom wall and being crushed by a zip-lining Wahlberg over the course of just two minutes. (As hard as Ferrells character has it as the stepdad to Wahlbergs children, Daddys Homeat least promises less bloodshed than, say, A Deadly Adoption.) The two dads attempts at one-upmanship is also detailed: Wahlberg buys his two kids a scraggly dog, while Ferrell responds with a pony for Christmas.
The film also stars Linda Cardellini as Wahlbergs ex-wife/Ferrells current wife, The League star Paul Scheer as a basketball halftime show emcee and comedian Hannibal Buress in an unknown capacity. Daddys Home was directed by Sean Anders and John Morris, the duo behind Horrible Bosses 2, Were the Millers, Dumb and Dumber To and Hot Tub Time Machine.
The punch line of one of the trailers funniest moments Ferrell accidentally hurling a basketball at a cheerleaders face was spoiled when video of the shoot leakedout in January. The scene was filmed during halftime at the New Orleans Pelicans Smoothie King Center and features Ferrells character being kicked out of the arena after the incident.
