Watch Ricky Gervais Croon, Make Crude Jokes in David Brent Trailer

Im currently a singer-songwriter and a rep, David Brent (Ricky Gervais) pseudo-boasts in the hilarious first trailer for David Brent: Life on the Road. The clip previews the former Office stars attempts at rock star reinvention as he performs middling concerts with hodgepodge live band Foregone Conclusion.

The story picks up 12 years after the BBC mockumentary. I left Wernham Hogg, and I found myself again, Brent says in his trademark cheeky tone. And I started to do what I do best: entertain Im putting a tour together. On the road is where I really come alive.

As expected, the jaunt is a disaster from the start, as Brent irritates and offends both his bandmates and audiences with offensive lyrics and odd behavior. Black people arent crazy/ Fat people arent lazy, raps Brents perplexed bandmate over a reggae groove. And dwarves arent babies/ You cant just pick them up theyve got rights. (You think its painful to watch I have to stand next to him, says the perplexed rapper.)

Elsewhere in the trailer, Brent cracks perverted jokes and blasts an audience member in the face with a T-shirt gun. Despite his many blunders, the lovable doofus promises his intentions are pure: I like making people feel, Brent says. I get inside your head, maybe get inside your heart.

David Brent: Life on the Road, written and directed by Gervais, will hit U.K., Ireland, Australia and New Zealand cinemas on August 19th. The film will be available on Netflix in 2017.
