Zack Snyder to Direct New Justice League Film for Warner Bros.


Warner Bros. just added another superhero thoroughbred to its stable. The studio has confirmed theyre moving forward with the long-rumoredJustice League movie, which will be directed by Zack Snyder, who helmed bothMan of Steeland the upcoming (and tentatively titled)Superman vs. Batman.

Greg Silverman, president of Warners worldwide production, confirmed the news toWall Street Journal. It will be a further expansion of this universe, he says. Superman vs. Batmanwill lead intoJustice League. But theres no need to pre-order tickets just yet the films script is still being developed, and Warner hasnt commented on a possible release date. With the Superman/Batman film lined up for 2016, Justice Leagueisnt expected to hit theaters before 2018.

Some familiar faces are expected to reprise their earlier roles in the DC comics world: Henry Cavill (Superman), Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot (Batman and Wonder Woman, respectively, inSuperman vs. Batman). While Silverman declined to offer further specifics about casting, WSJnotes that the studio recently started casting half-robot superhero Cyborg for a cameo inSuperman vs. Batman and speculates that the character could also appear inJustice League.

Silverman also emphasizes that the studio is also developing several other films based on other DC superheroes, along with crime and fantasy stories from the Vertigo comics. Sue Kroll, Warners president of worldwide marketing, adds that another goal is to pursue aWonder Womanmovie at some point in the not-too-distant future.

That is our hope, she says. With the right script, that could be viable. The world is ready for her.
